"It's the unknown where God does His best work. When we get out of the way and let go of the idea that we are in control of anything."
You ever found yourself in the unknown?
No, not the kind where you walk into a room and forget why you went in there.
I'm talking about that season where you don't know where the road leads. You don't know which turn is next. You don't know how long this season will last, or what waits on the other side.
When I think of blind faith and stepping into the unknown, I always think of Abraham. The fella had no clue where he was being called or what waited there. All God said was, "Go. I'll show you." He let go of control and obeyed before he understood. I have always loved how bold his faith was. (Genesis 12:1-4)
When I look back on my own life, I can see moments where God asked me to have that kind of faith, obedience before clarity. Times when the calling felt clear, but the how and the when and the outcome did not. Seasons where saying yes meant stepping away from what was familiar, releasing control, and trusting God with what I couldn't see yet.
Those steps didn't feel bold in the moment. They felt uncomfortable and they felt risky.
God often asks us to take the next step without giving us the full picture. To move forward without answers. To trust Him without a map. To jump into the deep end trusting that He would provide the floaties.
The God who asks us to trust Him without a map is the same God who goes before us. He doesn't send us into the unknown alone, and He doesn't ask for blind faith without His presence.
"The Lord Himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you." - Deuteronomy 31:8
Every step Abraham took was already seen by God and already known. The unknown may feel uncertain to us, but it is never uncertain to Him.
Is God calling you into the unknown? Is he asking you to trust Him without a map? Or have you already taken that step of obedience and now find yourself sitting in
the waiting room?
The waiting room is a place David knew well, and we'll step into his story next.
Part One of the Unknown. Next we'll step into the waiting room with David.
